Stories of Care & Control: Practices Towards Building Strategy is a webinar series to accompany the Healing Histories Project's Stories of Care and Control: A Timeline of the Medical Industrial Complex designed to understand the stories of medical experimentation, scientific racism, racial capitalism, and ableism as some of the many forces shaping the conditions and evolution of care work in the United States. This webinar series seeks to deepen healer/health practitioners' understanding of the Medical Industrial Complex (MIC) toward confronting and/or disrupting the harms and abuses of these systems of care as an extension of systemic oppression. In this series, we will also explore the many contradictions of community care spaces that unknowingly perpetuate similar beliefs & models to the MIC. As we grapple with how to find genuine care and safety that addresses our community’s needs, these webinars seek to provide a compass to ensure that collective care and safety are at the heart of every effort to address harm within and outside the healthcare system.
Cost of Webinar Series
Our earned income strategy supports our ability to have our communities, organizational and institutional partners be in solidarity with one another, and to continue remembering our histories in order to transform our futures.
We have decided to give 5 options for making a payment based on your resources.
Individuals
Seedling Rate: Our baseline rate is to make it most accessible for individuals purchasing the webinars. This rate is:$25.00 per webinar. There are two webinars total. While we know $50.00 can be a lot for some, we want to offer that this project has taken 1.5 years with a lot of love and extensive labor put into it.
Composting Rate: If you are an individual with resources available, we ask that you support us by paying $50 per webinar. There are two webinars total. This supports those who need to pay the ‘seedling rate’ and also helps cover the labor of the people that worked tirelessly on this webinar for months.
Organizations/Institutions
For organizations we ask that you support us through one of the following rates on your budget:
Bright Star Rate: For organizations/institutions that have a budget at or below $500,000 we ask you pay $100.00 for 2 webinars ($50 per webinar).
North Star Rate: For organizations/institutions with a budget between $500,00 to $1.5 million, we ask you to pay $250 for 2 webinars ($125 per webinar).
New Constellation Rate: For organizations/institutions with a budget above 1.5 million we ask you pay $500 for two webinars ($250 per webinar).
Episode 1
The first webinar will orient participants to Healing Histories Project’s work, including the Healing Justice political framework as a tool to organize collective care & safety strategies; introducing our political and cultural understanding of the Medical Industrial Complex; and our theory of change as a way to grapple with systems of care inextricably linked to our liberation.
Episode 2
The second webinar will work to support a web of interventions designed to ensure that collective care and collective safety are at the heart of every healthcare intervention inside and outside of the Medical Industrial Complex (MIC). This webinar also includes an interactive workbook that leads through practices and ways to build interventions while still looking at the contexts and conditions of the present moment we are living in. In tandem, the webinar and workbook are meant to provide a mix of body grounding exercises to best support you to engage with this material as well as a series of reflection questions to assist you in assessing risk, further defining your strategy & deepening your practice with disrupting the MIC.
